Food is on the ballot in Brazil’s contentious presidential vote
When you’re a country with a population of 190 million, it’s hard to know what to expect on election day. Some of Brazil’s more reliable pollsters have given us a lot in the past. The ones who predict a close run-off between incumbent president Dilma Rousseff and opposition candidate Aecio Neves have been predicting a win for Rousseff by a significant margin for months. Others have been even more pessimistic, and I for one hope they’re wrong. Polls that predicted a Rousseff win by a substantial margin in March were not off by much.
There are other polls, though, that have predicted a close race for the presidency. Here are some of polls that have been conducted in the last month of the campaign, showing Rousseff ahead.
A survey conducted by DataGato and Ibope, which is considered to be a reliable pollster, shows Rousseff with a lead slightly more than two points.
