Everything you need to know (and more!) about pickleball
PICKLEBALL is an amazing sport. It’s a very good aerobic workout, and it’s very easy to learn. It’s also super fun because you don’t need to worry about your weight, or how to warm up properly, or getting a good spot and having your opponent get a good workout. In fact, as our pickleball team member Matt (pictured above) says, pickleball is the first sport that you can just do.
We don’t have to worry about warming up, we don’t have to worry about our own fitness, and we can play with anyone, even if they are bigger than us. We can play with anyone, in fact, everyone who plays pickleball is smaller than me! (I’m a size 12/8; Matt is a size 11/8).
Because pickleball is so fun, people from pretty much every walk of life come out to play. You can play pickleball with people from your local grocery store, or your kids’ school, or even at a neighborhood pickleball tournament. People from all over the United States and Canada are playing pickleball.
There are also a few rules to learn, but they’re not hard to follow. Here’s how to get started and get the most out of your pickleball experience.
What is pickleball?
Pickleball is a game of skill and strength. It’s been played for several decades, and it was the first sport to ever reach a million total-team games. It’s also been taught as a competitive sport for a number of years, but pickleball is very different from traditional sports.
Pickleball is a sport where the player only needs to use their arms. In other sports, your whole frame, especially your legs, is used to move around. You’re not trying to hit a ball with your legs; you’re trying to lift your arms so that you can hit the ball.
There are three different versions of pickleball. They are:
One ball, two players, four teams, or
