It’s a great day for art fairs.

Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis’s office announced Thursday that the county’s largest-ever art fair will take place this June at the Los Angeles International Airport. It’s a first for the city of Santa Monica, where the Santa Monica Airport Commission voted Monday to move a runway over a nearby hill, and it’ll be the first event in the Frerieze Fringe art and entertainment festival that Solis’s office planned in a letter to the commission.

“We wanted to have a festival at the airport at a time when there’s an art and music festival,” Solis said Thursday. “That’s going to bring in people from around the world, and we wanted to have it to coincide with a festival.”

The festival will be held at Santa Monica Bay Park in Santa Monica from June 3-7, with the fair taking place June 4-6. The fair has drawn in 40,000 people in four years to date. It’s been dubbed “Art on the Beach” by Solis’s office and will feature art by local, regional and international artists, installations, music concerts, a children’s zone, and food vendors offering local, organic products.
